Valuation Coverage Options for Residential Moves

When preparing for your move, you'll need to choose the level of protection for your belongings. We offer two main types of coverage:

Recommended

Option 1: Full Replacement Value Protection

Highest level of coverage

Items that are lost or damaged will be repaired, replaced, or reimbursed at current value
If an identical replacement isn't available, a comparable item or cash settlement is provided
A deductible may apply depending on the coverage level selected
Ideal for customers who want full value protection for their household goods
High-value items ($5,000+) must be declared on a Declaration of Extraordinary Value form

Option 2: Limited Liability Coverage

$0.60 per pound per item · Included at no additional cost

Standard basic coverage included at no charge
Coverage calculated by weight of the item, not its actual value
Reimburses at $0.60/lb per item (or $1.00/lb in New Jersey)
May not be sufficient for high-value or fragile items

Example: 10-Pound Chair Damaged During Your Move

Option 1 — Full Replacement

The chair would be repaired, replaced, or you would receive a cash settlement for its full value (minus any applicable deductible).

Option 2 — Basic Liability

You would receive a maximum of $6.00 (10 lbs × $0.60/lb), regardless of the chair's actual value.

Valuation Details by Move Type

Coverage and pricing can vary depending on the type of move. Our valuation programs vary by move type — please thoroughly review the valuation options, pricing, and information for your relocation.

Valuation Coverage for Storage

If your items are placed in Veteran Moving Florida storage under the basic liability plan, they are covered at 60¢ per pound per item at no extra charge.

Items of Extraordinary Value

If you're opting for Full Replacement Value Protection, you'll need to declare any high-value items:

Items (or sets) worth $5,000 or more must be listed on a Declaration of Extraordinary Value form
If these items are not listed, our liability for them will default to 60¢ per pound

Customer-Packed Boxes

Veteran Moving Florida is not responsible for the contents of boxes packed by you, as we can't verify what's inside or how it was packed. If such a box is lost or damaged, liability is limited to $85 per box.

However, boxes packed by our crew or those with visible damage are fully covered under your chosen valuation option.

Delivery to Public Storage Facilities

Our liability ends once we deliver your items to a third-party storage unit. For continued protection, we recommend storing your goods directly with Veteran Moving Florida.

If using a public facility, inspect your items with the driver and document any damage in the "Exceptions" section of the inventory.
