Local Movers Serving Tampa Bay & South Hillsborough
Local moving is what we do most. Veteran Moving Florida is a USMC veteran-owned local moving company headquartered at 12902 US-301 in Riverview, and the majority of our work happens right here — households moving across town, apartments moving a few miles, families relocating from one South Hillsborough neighborhood to the next. Whether you’re moving a studio or a full estate, the standard is the same: an upfront price, the same crew from start to finish, and your belongings handled like our own.
This page covers exactly how a local move with us works, what’s included, how pricing is built, and where we serve. If you already know your destination, jump to the city we’re moving you to — otherwise, start here.
How It Works
How a Local Move With VMF Works
Seven steps, start to finish — no surprises along the way.
STEP 01
A Quick Call
We start with a short call to gather the details of your move — what’s moving, from where, to where, and when. The more we understand up front, the more accurate everything that follows.
STEP 02
Your Estimate
We build an estimate from those details — the size of the move, the access at both ends, and any add-ons like packing. You get a clear number, not a vague range.
STEP 03
Booked At That Price
Once you’ve reviewed the estimate and agreed on the cost of service, we book the move at that price. The price we quote is the price you pay.
STEP 04
Protected Before We Lift
On move day, the crew arrives and protects your furniture before handling anything — pads, shrink-wrap, and runners go down first, every time.
STEP 05
Disassembly & Reassembly
We disassemble beds and other furniture as needed for safe transport, then put them back together at the new place. Your bed gets rebuilt, not left in pieces.
STEP 06
Set In Place
We set everything exactly where you want it. We set up the new home — we don’t just drop boxes inside the door and leave.
STEP 07
Licensed & Insured Throughout
Every step is handled by a fully licensed and insured team — no day-labor, no subcontractors, no strangers in your home.
What’s Included
What a Local Move Covers
Every local move includes the core work: careful loading and unloading, furniture protection, disassembly and reassembly, and placement at your new home. From there, you choose how much you want us to handle.
Full-service packing. Add professional packing for the whole home or just the fragile and bulky items.
Furniture disassembly & reassembly. Beds, tables, and modular pieces taken apart and rebuilt on site.
Appliance handling. Heavy appliances moved with the right equipment and care.
Short-term storage. When move-out and move-in dates don’t line up, our storage solutions bridge the gap.
Why VMF
What Makes Our Local Moves Different
Upfront pricing. The price we quote is the price you pay — no fuel surcharges added at the end, no “materials” line items you didn’t agree to, no rate-per-stair clauses buried in fine print.
The same crew, start to finish. The team that loads your home is the team that unloads it. We don’t use day-labor platforms and we don’t subcontract your move to a third party. Everyone who sets foot in your home works for us and is fully licensed and insured.
The standard of care. Above all else, we treat what we carry the way we’d treat our own. Most of the time that means the everyday things a household is built from. Sometimes it means a family’s irreplaceable keepsakes, a fragile heirloom, or a loved one’s ashes. We don’t treat those moments as a selling point — we handle them with the quiet care they deserve. It’s the standard the crew holds on every job, whether anyone is watching or not.
“Every local move, we hold one standard: treat the customer’s belongings as if they were our own. The family photos, the furniture someone saved years to buy, the things that can’t be replaced — they get the same care whether it’s a studio apartment or a four-bedroom house. That’s the job.”
— Kelvin, Owner & USMC Veteran
How a Local Move Is Priced
We don’t publish a one-size-fits-all rate, because no two moves are the same. Instead, we build your estimate around the things that actually drive the work:
Home size and volume. A studio and a four-bedroom house are different jobs — the amount and weight of what’s moving is the biggest factor.
Access at both ends. Stairs, elevators, long carries, and truck parking all affect how long a move takes.
Add-on services. Full packing, specialty-item handling, and storage are optional and priced transparently when you choose them.
Once we understand those details, we give you one number and book the move at that number. If something about the job changes, we talk it through before anything changes on the invoice — you’re never surprised on move day.

Common Questions
Local Moving FAQ
How is a local move priced?
Local moves are priced on the size and volume of the move, the access at both your current and new home (stairs, elevators, long carries, parking), and any add-on services like packing or storage. We gather those details on a short call, build an estimate, and once you agree, we book the move at that price — the price we quote is the price you pay, with no hidden fees added later.
How long does a typical local move take?
It depends on the size of the home and the access at both ends. Many local moves within Tampa Bay are completed in a single day. When we build your estimate, we give you a realistic time window for your specific move rather than a generic guess — and because the price is agreed up front, a longer day doesn’t mean a bigger bill than you approved.
What counts as a “local” move — what’s your service area?
We’re based in Riverview and serve the Tampa Bay and South Hillsborough region — Riverview, Brandon, Apollo Beach, Ruskin, Wimauma, Sun City Center, and the surrounding communities, on up through the greater Tampa Bay area. A local move generally means a move within that region rather than a long-distance or interstate relocation. If you’re not sure whether your move qualifies, give us a call and we’ll tell you straight.
Do you move single items or specialty pieces, or only whole homes?
Both. We handle everything from a full household down to a single heavy or specialty item — a piano, a gun safe, an oversized piece of furniture. If you only need a few things moved or one difficult item relocated, that’s a job we do regularly. Just tell us what you’ve got on the call and we’ll factor it into the estimate.
Is a deposit required to book, and how do I reserve a date?
Reach out by phone or the quote form and we’ll gather your details and send an estimate. Once you approve it, we lock in your date. For whether a deposit is required to hold a date, just ask when you book — we’ll be upfront about it before anything is scheduled.
What insurance or valuation coverage is included?
Every move includes Limited Liability Coverage at no additional charge — $0.60 per pound per item, based on an item’s weight rather than its value. For higher protection you can choose Full Replacement Value Protection (a deductible may apply, and items worth $5,000 or more must be listed on a Declaration of Extraordinary Value form). You choose your valuation before the crew begins packing or moving. See our valuation and coverage options for the full details and how to file a claim.
